WHAT TO DO IN THE FACE OF AN UNDESIRABLE WORK OPPORTUNITY

As most of you know, I travel to, stay in and work from different countries but in the recent years, I have set up camp in my birthplace to which I return after each trip. Just like in various others, I have taken jobs in Zagreb, Croatia that were all speaking, workshop giving and seminar teaching engagements.

I recently wanted to manifest another collaboration opportunity here. Let us begin.

As I have said before, the first opportunity won’t always be the one when manifesting a specific goal. If you’re manifesting a job, your first interview or offer might not be what you want and it is up to you to stay positive and keep going. If you’re manifesting your ideal appearance, maybe it’ll come together one step at a time instead of all at once. If you’re manifesting your soul mate, it might not be the first person you go on a date with (but it also might!).

And as I was reminded, the first opportunity you stumble upon might be a complete opposite of what you want in a work engagement.

Since the field of education in this city is an efficient network and I taught university seminars for students and professors for two years, I was referred to another private school for a similar opportunity. They were looking for someone to give a lecture or a workshop in CV writing and interview skills, and I was given an email address for the person in charge. I wanted to be offered lecture dates with satisfying compensation I am used to receiving so I sent an email detailing my work experience and professional goals.

Twelve hours later, I received a reply. The person in charge of booking the lectures outlined exact demands my work experience was perfect for. We both agreed that the needs of this school were exactly what I offered but their email was concluded with the following lines.

“I must tell you though that our school does not offer compensation for these lectures. 🙂 ”

Yes. They put a smiley face at the end of that sentence.

“So, what do you think? Kind regards!”

I was baffled.

A private school in which students pay tuition on a regular basis wanted to hire a lecturer willing to work for free. What did I think? In the following email, this individual proved to be made aware of the unappealing terms but at the same time, those terms were not up to them.

After a few seconds of laughter, I realized I wasn’t even all that surprised. Local organizations offering fair compensation and looking for exceptional candidates are well aware of ones like this damaging the reputation of everyone in the field. One of the people that referred me to this position was borderline outraged, having been unaware of these terms.

I declined the offer with the following statement.

“Thank you for your email but given the terms, I will have to pass on this opportunity.”

Not to mention that the word “opportunity” evoked sarcasm in my mind.

Unless it’s valuable volunteer work, a private university that values their collaborative force so little is of no interest to me. To be fair, they didn’t reach out to me – I reached out to them after being referred to them. I thought they might be my next collaboration opportunity, a desire not specific to a country, city or school, but maybe this means I should get more specific in my goal and I will reach it faster.

Looking at it from the point of view of both the Law of Attraction and peculiar business practices, I find it very interesting that a private university whose staff routinely complains about a lack of quality in the skills of their student body isn’t willing to invest in someone who would improve those skills. And what are those students paying tuition for, if they are not getting the skills they need by the very admission of their own university?

I wanted to point some of these things out because quality of education and fair compensation are highly important topics in today’s world, as they have been at any point in history. But in the spirit of why we’re here on this blog, we could argue their Law of Attraction skills or we could argue mine. They give nothing and then complain about having developed nothing in their students. I will keep going and soon receive everything I asked for, just like I always do.

You get what you give – LoA tells us that every day. Last university I worked with in this city gave me one of the most valuable experiences of my life and having had such experiences, I wasn’t going to let this one take advantage of me. Unless you value yourself, how can others see your worth? What you accept for yourself sends others a message of the kind of treatment you deserve.

I am having new ideas on collaboration manifestations as we speak.

Why Self Confidence Helps You Manifest

  1. When you feel good, you know you contribute quality. When you feel good about yourself, you want to share it with the world and bring it into other people’s lives. You know how to make others happy and more importantly, want to. All of this makes manifesting easier because it takes away all the reasons why you should not get what you want.
  2. You forget to remember the time. When you simply enjoy life and your own happiness, you don’t think about how long it takes to manifest. I’ve mostly manifested within days or weeks. Sometimes, two months. Every time I manifested moving countries, the planning and the aligning of opportunities took less than a year. I often want to hear from someone and it happens within an hour or a day; two or three times, it took three weeks to a month. But do you know how long it just took me to remember all of that!? When you simply enjoy life and don’t need, you let go and manifest. The beauty in patience is the reward of receiving your desire rapidly.
  3. Because you want to give. You think about what you’re going to contribute to the lives of those you want in yours because you know how much you’re worth. You know how much you have to give. Those who feel they’re not enough to receive their desires wish for a world in which those desires would make them better but after accepting that you are good enough, you think about why your desire also desires you.

The reasons are simple – can you remember any time you brought happiness into the lives of others as well as your own? This often happens when starting a new relationship, enjoying and contributing to mutual happiness. What about a time when you made a friend or a family member happy, or changed someone’s life for the better because you could?

You are special. That says enough.

Whether we practice self confidence, self love or trust in the Universe, we can perceive the value in ourselves easily. We were meant to feel valuable in our own lives.

Connect with your happiness at the start of each day. Be grateful, and start the day by doing something you love. It can be anything you want as long as it makes you happy. This positive start to the day will keep you on a positive track.

Until We Get There…

For two days, I thought about the practice of attracting those who mirror us, allowing our deepest issues to finally surface and be dealt with – an opportunity we take or miss every time. I began to wonder why I occasionally look for a specific personality aspect in a man yet his execution of that aspect might make me question my initial desire. I wondered if I still even remember how to be in a happy relationship, the kind of relationship I desire. Given the space to create a new professional opportunity at the beginning of the week, I needed a nudge but was thrilled once it was finalized (of course). I felt partially disconnected, alien. I wondered what had happened to my confidence.

These thoughts somehow failed to scare me – I simply observed them and attempted to figure out why they appeared. I thanked the Universe for allowing me to sink into the awareness I’d been chasing as a result and simply listened to my body, mind and heart trying to help me. I knew that a period of silent contemplation might come as a result of my awareness changing, especially during the present time. My life is changing rapidly – I have been manifesting new professional as well as personal circumstances and I already know everything that I am soon going to be enjoying but also, be dealing with. Wheels are in motion already, my life and awareness are rearranging accordingly and I have decided to eliminate some unsatisfying views as a result.

I knew that the sooner I dealt with it, the sooner I would step into a new awareness and stay there.

Those who truly want to manifest their desires indeed do so. They choose to sink into their own ability to manifest. They look for (and, find) ways while others look for excuses.

The other day, one of my closest friends and I found a Law of Attraction tip online. This tip stated that one should be like a postage stamp when it comes to manifesting any desire – sticking to it until arrival. I’ve thought about it since and realized how many energy stages are involved in this idea.

When asking the Universe to receive one’s desire, an ecstatic feeling may follow. Knowing our desire is created and belongs to us the minute we ask for it can cause a rush of feelings, butterflies, tingles and pure love. Eventually, that seemingly continuous rush will fade, even if just for moments; if one’s conclusion states their desire is still alive inside them, even when the rush is over, their awareness stills into the feeling of living it. This particular energy state ensures letting go effortlessly in order to receive the said desire.

Knowing one’s desire belongs to them already is an energy state difficult to describe. One exists in this state as easily as they exist in any place they are used to. They simply do; one simply is. One is as easily as they are in their own home – they love it and are grateful for it but feel ecstatic about it in between the moments of stillness and habit. They appreciate it while knowing it’s there. If they should fail to appreciate it, they may lose it.

Sticking like a postage stamp ensures that the feeling of being there is reached and eased into. The persistence to reach that point is consisted of sticking to one’s conscious conviction of their desire being a meant-to-be manifestation in their lives.

This postage stamp idea provided easier focus for me. A great reminder of my intention, it reminded me that focus is obtained easier than expected when it is nurtured with love. Then, letting go is effortless and automatic; so is the manifestation of one’s desire.
